Rutle Soul (USA/UK)

Simply put, Rutle Soul is labour of love. A love for brilliant music created by Neil Innes. A love for the Rutles and an unwavering desire to share this wonderful music.

The origins of Rutle Soul goes back to the mid 1990s, when the now legendary Harrogate based 1960s tribute band The Diamonds started regularly slipping Rutles tracks into their “authentic” setlist. Songs such as “It’s Looking Good” and “I Must Be In Love” fast became favourite requests with the locals, most of which had not heard this great music until then. The members of the band loved performing this great music then – and now!

The members of Rutle Soul come from both sides of the Atlantic. Founding Diamonds member and lead singer Andy Plant, as well as former Diamonds Patrick Walsh and John Turner (now part of the ever popular 80s tribute The Motives) are still based in Harrogate. Bass player Ray Kreiner, lives in Florida. Currently, Ray plays drums and portrays Ringo in the Beatles tribute, Beatlemanix USA. Ace drummer, Mike Kreiner lives in Maryland and plays with local faves, Three of a Kind.

Despite the distance between them, Rutle Soul’s love for playing and presenting music from the incredible Rutles catalog has never diminished. The sometimes funny, often complicated but always magnificent music written by Neil Innes is a joy to perform.

Rutle Soul has had the absolute privilege of being selected to participate in IBW 2020 virtually, as well as live in 2021 and 2022. They look forward to performing for friends old and new at IBW 2024! Twist and Rut!
